When/how should you read a measuring cylinder?

You should read a measuring cylinder at eye level, taking the measurement from the bottom of the meniscus (the curved surface of the liquid). The meniscus forms a curve due to surface tension, and you should measure the bottom of this curve. Ensure that the cylinder is on a flat surface and that the liquid is not splashed or spilled.
