One of the most important monuments in the history of the cultural and spiritual development of our people at all times was and still is the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the buildings of which are located on the territory of modern Kyiv.

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was founded almost a thousand years ago. Today, thousands of people come to this attraction not only to look at this work of art, but also to worship a truly holy place. The shrine of the Ukrainian people was founded by two Orthodox monks who decided to refuse to communicate with the outside world and dug caves for themselves in order to live in them and pray to God. Over time, more and more people began to join them, and later the small caves turned into a monastery.

Over time, the monastery became more and more powerful and assumed more and more importance in the spiritual life of our people. Subsequently, the inhabitants of the monastery began to build various economic and religious buildings outside. It was these buildings that later turned into a rather large complex with many temples, which was surrounded by a stone wall. And now the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is divided into two parts - the ground part of the monastery and the cave. It is appropriate to add that the Lavra got its name precisely from these caves, because they became the basis of the entire monastery complex. This monastery did not earn the name of the laurel in an instant, it took more than a century before that, and after gaining such an honor, it became one of the three most powerful monasteries of that time.
