Assuming that you manage to find a job after you leave school, these are some of what changed for me: The positives -1. No more homework, no more studying and no more exams. When you clock off at the end of the working day, you really don't have any more work to do. 2. You start earning a wage instead of depending on pocket money from your parents. Your purchasing power goes up a hell of a lot, especially if you're still living in your parents' house when you get your first job. The negatives - 1. At school, only final exams count. On a day-to-day basis, you can get your entire homework/classwork wrong and it won't hurt you. At work, every mistake counts. If you make too many mistakes you get fired. And the more exposure you have to the work, the more likely it is that eventually you're going to make another mistake. You start worrying. 2. You'll eventually learn what assholes some customers can be. You'll either learn the patience of a saint in dealing with them or completely lose the plot and realize that a public-facing role is not for you. 3. You'll learn how to deal with workplace bullies telling you how to do your job and how to deal with office politics generally. 4. You'll go from having 10 weeks holiday a year to having just 4 weeks holiday a year.
