(1) Marie Curie was born in Poland in 1867. Her mother died in 1877. So Marie had to work as a tutor. She

(2) could help her sister who was studying medicine in Paris. Soon Marie also moved to France to study

(3) Maths and Physics. There she got her Master's degree in two subjects. When Marie was studying

(4) magnetism she met he future husband Pierre. They started research into radium and polonium and

(5) after four years' work they won a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903. In 1906 Pierre Curie died and Marie felt

(6) very unhappy. But her work helped her overcome the grief (rope) and she began to work even harder. In

(7) 1911 she got a Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Unfortunately, no one knew how deadly radium was. Marie

(8) died in 1934 of radiation poisoning. But many people respect and honour her because she was the first

(9) woman in the world to win two Nobel Prizes.
